Mrs McElroy is delighted to be continuing our Roots of Empathy Programme this year with the Year 5, 6 and 7s. This is an evidence-based programme delivered in primary school classrooms which has shown significant increase in levels of empathy among school children by raising social-emotional competence and increasing awareness of others
At the heart of the programme is a baby Leo and his mummy, Sarah who will visit the classroom during the school year. The baby is the ‘teacher’ in this experiential learning, while he helps the children identify and reflect on their own feelings and the feelings of others. We would like to thank Sarah for volunteering to complete the programme this year and we look forward to seeing Leo grow and develop.
