World War 2
Years 5-7 have been learning about the topic of World War 2. They have been learning that the war began on 3rd September 1939, when the Prime Minister of Britain, Neville Chamberlain, declared war on Germany. It involved many of the world's countries and it was started by Germany in an unprovoked attack on Poland. Britain and France declared war on Germany after Hitler had refused to abort his invasion of Poland. Children and some women were evacuated from the big cities into the countryside. People carried gas masks to protect themselves and built air raid shelters. All windows and doors were blacked out. Take a look at some of the activities and learning in action.
